Storyline: SHEPHERD is based on Asher Kravitz's award-winning and best-selling novel "The Jewish Dog." When the Nuremberg Laws are implemented in WWII Berlin, Kaleb, a beloved German Shepherd, is separated from his Jewish family. An SS officer adopts him and trains him to attack and round up Jews at a concentration camp. Kaleb is well-cared for and effective at his job until he is distracted by a familiar scent one day. His original master, a young boy named Joshua, has arrived as a camp inmate. Kaleb has not abandoned Joshua, who finds solace in getting a job feeding the animals and spending time with Kaleb. Joshua's life is in jeopardy. They flee together.
