Storyline: The lead character Abhay (Pavail Gulati), in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's Faadu- A Love Story, which is currently streaming on SonyLiv, quickly composes a poem and reads it to Manjari (Saiyami Kher), late at night. She doesn't care if she is late getting back to her hostel. Manjari sobs as she listens to the poem, but Abhay rips up the paper and informs her that poetry doesn't appeal to him in the least. Why? she queries. He claims that's because there's no money in it. Tiwari prolongs the focus on Abhay's face for a second, showing us how Abhay's circumstances drove him to become a mercenary even though he would have preferred to pursue other hobbies. This reflective thought process is depicted in Faadu- A Love Story by its lead character. Here is a piece of art that aims to deliberately halt you in your tracks and make you pause to think about these folks who are attempting to improve their current situation. The director has found success with it; films like Nil Battey Sannata, Bareilly Ki Barfi, and even Panga are portraits of tenacious resiliency. Faadu stumbles, though, quite early on and never really recovers after that. Abhay introduces himself in the opening narration, saying that someone who studies for a degree doesn't actually understand the world. Along the way, we also run into Manjari, a Konkan native who travels to Mumbai for college. Even Abhay enrols in an English degree programme, however, after two classes, he lost interest. When he reverses it more, one wonders why he couldn't find a finance degree. Did he not have the chance to make a decision?
